February seems like a bygone era, once a fleeting moment of New York fashion week hysteria, hindered by the drudgery of blizzard Nemo. But, one cannot complain too much, with a schedule of shows saved on my iCal, stiletto boots switched out for sensible ice-breaking, slush-stomping Burberry wellies, I was not going to miss a show.
Its hard to get into shows, it’s virtually impossible to attend with a friend, but as luck would have it my good friend Pamela Martin Duarte invited me to attend the Jason Wu show as her guest.
Yes, that’s right, this fashion-blogging Brit knows that reality TV stars and Brizo faucet design followers outshine a mere fashion blogger for special invitations every time. With my pride in tact, and thankful that Pamela tagged me along; we watched all the drama of Fall 2013 unfold from our balcony view (neon jeans incident, let’s just leave it at that, enough said already).
Since the Fall 2013 collections are about to arrive, I thought I would remind myself of the “Extreme Femininity” I witnessed at Wu (here are a few of my fave styles). The 583 Park Avenue locale adorned a stately chandelier above the high-gloss runway—very dramatic, and the collection of mostly black and white, popped with bright red, toffee and violet. The muted textures of snakeskin, wool bonded lace, sheer bonded lace, silk chiffon, and crepe de chine rocked an edgier, sexier Wu with python leather.
Adding to the edgy collection, the Fall 2013 campaign is just as sultry, following the same theme as last season (remember Stephanie Seymour at La Grenouille), with Supermodel Christy Turlington decked out at eatery Mr. Chow—shot by faved photo duo Inez and Vinoodh. Perfection!
