Cameron Silver, Decades

I met Cameron Silver almost a year ago at a book launch party for his tome Decades: A Century of Fashion. The book resides on my coffee table—a prismatic parcel packed with pages of vintage regalia and signed by the debonair Mr. Silver.

Decades—a Hollywood hangout for celebrities, stylists and style aficionados in search of vintage 20th century accessories and gowns, also consigns 21st century designer clothing. Silver and Garkinos glean the globe, traveling in search of access to elusive closets, salvaging collectables, which are all handpicked, curated and lovingly showcased at the Melrose Avenue locale.

This Fall, Bolke and Silver, fashion geniuses that they are, have curated four capsule collections of venerable wares to showcase each month bestowed with a unique theme.  The September collection will include silk blouses from YSL, Hermes and Celine, October presents a reverent nod to TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art with a black and white evening collection, November cast a warm glow for cooler days with coats and furs, and December celebrates vintage Chanel pieces—perfectly planned with Karl Lagerfeld in Dallas on December 10, for the Chanel Metiers d’Art show.
