Before I can even start to think about the folly of fall fashion week, and my forthcoming trip to New York, a quick recap on the arrival of spring is a must-do. February glossies are already beckoning the attention for spring fashion, so here’s my edited collective of styles I love for Spring 2013.
Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Giles, and Balenciaga.
Colour combinations make for dramatic style statements and this season my rule of thumb for spring shopping will ruminate the boldness of grouping shades of colour. Classic black and white is anything but classic this season with perforated, paneled and laser-cut leather, embellished separates at Balenciaga and slashes at Wang.
Christopher Kane, Ports 1961, Celine, Akris, and Narciso Rodriguez.
Not one to blush easily, I might have to consider the light feminine version of pink, and add a softer shade to my closet this season—I love all of these styles—so girly.
Akris, Ohne Titel, Dion Lee, Helmut Lang, and Stella McCartney.
I am now obsessed with the fresh twist of neutral tones of white and beige juxtaposed with varying shades of orange—also seen at Rag & Bone. Australian designer Dion Lee imbues a modern marvel with his orange neon mesh dress—worthy of sculptural sacrifice, and Ohne Titel designers Alexa Adams and Flora Gill cleverly merge pleats, print, stripes and peplums into one discerning dress.
Matthew Williamson, Alberta Ferretti, Proenza Schouler, Michael Kors, and Mary Katranztou.
Easy, breezy, bold and brazen this selection of runway style depicts the height of summer with hues of deep ocean blues and sea greens. Like the blush tones, a softer version: seafoam green makes an appearance for spring at Carolina Herrera, Diane von Furstenberg and Christian Siriano—a subtle color that works well with neutral shades, just like the orange story. If you prefer to go bold Proenza Schouler and Michael Kors, will certainly tell a strong story.
Christopher Kane, Giles, and Viktor & Rolf.
Edgy and in your face, quite literally, I love these three outfits. Giles Deacon just rocks my world; the Spring 2013 collection has many pieces that I would love to wear and the same with Preen by Thornton Bregazzi. And, doesn’t every girl need Frankenstein on her chest for spring?
