As Co-Chair for the Fashion Group International of Dallas Fashion & Lifestyle Awards “Night of Stars,” for the second year, of course, I am going to talk about what an amazing event this is. The Fashion & Lifestyle Award gala is the only event in Dallas that recognises both local businesses and supports education and talent in Dallas, within fashion and lifestyle industries. So, if you’re not familiar with FGI, Career Day or the Fashion & Lifestyle Awards—then let me share.
Fashion Group International of Dallas hosts Career Day every year and this year signified the inaugural selection for the winner of the Shelly Musselman Fashion Design Award. In April five fashion students: Mfon Ogbonna from Houston Community College; Cassandra Bumpous, from University of North Texas; Kim Pham, from University of North Texas; Bao Tran, from University of North Texas; and Katrina Raz, from University of Texas at Austin, were selected by Brian Bolke, co-founder of the boutique Forty Five Ten to participate in the final selection for this very generous award.
The lucky winner will be announced during the Fashion & Lifestyle Awards “Night of Stars” gala in November, and will receive the $10,000 Shelly Musselman Fashion Design Award, mentorship from Mr Bolke, and will produce a capsule collection sponsored by Forty Five Ten, that will be featured on the runway during the event. Now if that doesn’t get you all excited to attend the event, then you’re reading the wrong blog.
