Copious amounts of champagne overflowed at the Veuve Clicquot bar on the terrace of Arlington Hall to celebrate Derby Day at Lee Park in May. The philanthropic professionals at Lee Park Junior Conservancy certainly know how to great dressed every year for the annual Day at the Races—this year themed “Run for the Roses” was a tribute to honorary chair Caroline Rose Hunt.
Men arrived in dapper suits and donned hats and bowties, and the ladies looked lovely in summer dresses and hats of all proportions, especially fascinating fascinators. I attended as a “Best Hat” judge, along with my fellow judge cohorts Blake Stephenson, Rachael Abrams, and Cynthia Smoot, and mingled through the crowd critiquing each stylish ensemble.
