Style: Frazer Harrison lives life in the fast lane, but not the normal kind of corporate fast lane, but the kind with flashing bulbs, and jet-set travel around the world. As a Getty Images photographer, this bulb-flashing veteran has seen it all, from red carpets to runways and celebrity soirees. Brit-born, L.A. based celebrity and entertainment photographer Harrison covers every glamorous event from New York, to Milan, and Hollywood. With New York and Milan fashion week over, and the frenzy of Oscar night wrapped up, Frazer shared some of his trials and tribulations from the last month.
Runway: Paisley the mother of Indian design and the Hindu Tilakas inspired Naeem Khan for Fall 2012, a collection derived from the decadence and dust of India. This was my first time attending a Naeem Khan show, and my last show for fashion week, so I was grateful for my well-positioned seat. Sitting front row and centre of the runway sat Matt Damon with his wife, Luciana Barroso, and the culinary effervescent Padma Lakshmi, along with actress Kristen Chenoweth.
Decidedly decadent—a royal-inspired gathering of gold and silver metallic embroidery, embodied the essence of Khan’s collection—a pure, patriotic nod to Khan’s ethnic heritage. More →
Style: I’ve been obsessed with skirts lately, so much so, that I’ve contemplated picking up a pencil to start sketching designs again—my head is buzzing with ideas.
Style: My inbox is starting to trickle with invites to the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week; the countdown to stylish insanity has begun. I love the anticipation of a new season, even better, getting a glimpse of inspiration beforehand—a sweet tease.
The spring summer 2012 collections revealed a strong monochromatic story for early deliveries, with many designers bestowing striking pops of colour against neutral palettes. This chromatic trend hints at making a return to the runway next month, given the highlight notes for the Tracy Reese Fall 2012 collection.
Celebrating her fifth anniversary, of the Tracy Reese flagship boutique in Manhattan last year, Ms Reese continues to hold a steadfast position in the world of fashion. Feminine froth, and plentiful prints, always adorn’s the creativity of Ms Reese, and this next collection notes to a similar scenario.
Expect to see vibrant tomato, juniper green, fiery orange, with citrus lemon tones, warmed with neutral browns, grey, and black and white. Tailored silhouettes such as a jacquard pea jacket, and the classic mini, are juxtaposed with lavish textures and embellishments, crafted with refined detail.
Ready-to-Wear, wearable wares, that sound perfectly polite.
Lifestyle Chat: I interviewed Julie Macklowe founder of vbeauté back in December, and finally posted the story vbeauté: The ‘It’ Kit on PinkMemo this week. Evidently cloning oneself is still not available, so yes; it took a month to get this published, oh well. Better late than never!
Brian Bolke owner at boutique Forty Five Ten asked me to meet with Julie and sample her new beauty line vbeauté. So I headed to the boutique with Starbucks in hand, iPad ready, and Julie and I got beautifully acquainted.
Style: Issey Miyake prefers pleats, for me, it’s prints please, and only in dresses. So let the dress-fest continue with sumptuous samplings of summer-end smocks in promiscuous prints.
Jason Wu. Indian Maharajas and artist Charley Harper resonated with Mr Wu for pre-fall. My lady-like selection nods to the latter with a bold geometric print fifties style dress, adorned with leather gloves. This is an easy must-have look for the autumn months.
