Cold yet sunny, with snow debris smashed to the curbside, Sunday morning started with a promise of light-hearted enchantment at the Lela Rose Fall 2013 show in the Studio at Lincoln Center.
The Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales told stories of romance, tragedy and secrets as the inspiration behind this season’s collection. Fantasy juxtaposed with dark humor conjured up a magical, feminine apparition of wearable styles for fall.
Warm golden hues of yellow and orange merged as an abstract print piqued with glossy laced jacquard styles in silver and saffron. Delicate black lace adorned moonlight shaded silk, and a gracious lace and pearl printed silk in neutral and black tones, simmered in subtle illusion down the runway.
A couple of my favorite styles included a vibrant fuchsia satin cocoon-style coat, worn with a fuchsia and white ombré feathered skirt, and a curvaceous heather grey dress, with black embroidery down the side.
Shades of twilight, willow, and juniper glimmered with jewel-embroidered necklines and adorned shoulders, and a dark metallic woodcut jacquard added a hint of mystery—all to be revealed later this year.
