I’m equal parts a bag fiend with a shoe fetish, and it’s only budget and self-control that stop the incessant desire to purchase every ‘It’ bag and must-have heel that tantalises my senses every season. Fall 2016 is abundant with bags of every shade, size and decoration, but I’m obsessed and intrigued with this selection below in metallic, pink, embellishments, animal accents and bold statements.

Metallic: I love to mix shades of metal, by accessorising bags, shoes and jewellery. I love the perfect imperfection of gold and silver combined, but they have to be the same tone, or it just doesn’t work. There are plenty of soft shades of metallic, and bold, bright gold and silver, such as the crunched silver Louis Vuitton trunk tote and the Loewe soft leather tote sans all-over logo. Never has a season been more favourable for copious amounts of metallic in absolutely everything, so go gold and bold or go home.

Pink: Not a fan of metallic, then think pink for fall 2016, there are so many choices in pink totes, clutches, bucket bags et al. that the possibilities are endless. On the runway, I noted a few bags that I liked and all three are cross-body styles, a modern favourite again for fall. Trimmed with the leather strap chain, Chanel’s quilted cross-body in leather is a perfect phone size option or the slender Christian Dior tote in soft pink suede and the Bottega Veneta cross-body doubles up for extra essentials. Petite options, I love all three!

Embellished & Animal Accents: Every year it seems there is an embellished story for fall, but this season over-the-top, embroidery, sequins and prints decorate every style. Top of my list—Fendi and Gucci for heavily decorated styles, and juxtaposed with animal print accents, Dries Van Noten, Louis Vuitton and Burberry.

Big & Bold: Sometimes you just need a big bag, and the biggest style on the runway for Fall was at Balenciaga in bright, bold stripes, and the boldest runway at Salvatore Ferragamo served up the brightest and boldest accessories. On the other end of the spectrum, I love Chanel’s, soft-toned monochromatic print with a cat face (Choupette, perhaps), camellia flowers, four leaf clover, peace sign, and of course doubles C’s, such a fun-loving tote, and easily a wardrobe essential.

But if you need some instant gratification before all these fall styles arrives… peek below.
